Understanding the Experience

Eating disorders are not simply about food they’re about control, self-image, coping, and often, deep emotional pain. They can affect people of all genders and ages, and are frequently accompanied by complicated and difficult thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Recent changes in treatment and medication, such as the use of GLP-1 drugs (e.g. Mounjaro, Wygovy, and Ozempic), have added new layers to the conversation. These medications may influence appetite and weight, but they can also trigger or complicate body image issues and the therapeutic process.

How we work

Our Therapists and Dieticians have specialist training in eating disorders, and understand both the psychological and physiological aspects. We can support you in:

  • Understanding and managing the physical, emotional and psychological difficulties through psychotherapy and dietetics

  • Exploring the emotions behind eating behaviours

  • Navigating recovery alongside GLP-1 medication use

  • Rebuilding a healthier relationship with food, body, and self

What to expect

We’ll begin with a thorough assessment, and match you with a therapist who has expertise in eating disorders. Sessions are a minimum of weekly, online or in-person, and paced to your comfort.

Ongoing weekly eating disorder-focused psychotherapy: £120 per 50 minute session

Ongoing dietetics: £140 (weekly, fortnightly, monthly)

Psychotherapy and dietetics assessment

£350

(one-off assessment fee)

Once you have booked an initial assessment, an assessing psychotherapist and dietician will contact you to arrange your assessment appointment.

Our Eating Disorders service requires all new clients to have both an initial psychotherapy assessment (this is undertaken online), and an initial dietetics assessment (this is undertaken online or in-person by agreement). Once the initial assessments have taken place, we will discuss your preference for online or in-person ongoing therapy and dietetics, if required. Our service is not suitable for people seeking treatment who have a very low BMI (typically of 14 or less), or who are experiencing multiple addictions. If in doubt, please contact us before booking. Our service is strictly for adults aged 18 and over.
