Maria Pierides
BA (Hons), PG Dip
DIRECTOR, PSYCHOTHERAPIST
Maria trained as an Art Psychotherapist at Goldsmiths and the University of Hertfordshire, qualifying in 2002. Since then, she has worked across both the public and private sectors, as well as in independent practice. Her experience includes assessment and formulation, establishing art psychotherapy services, offering both group and individual therapy, and facilitating peer-supervision groups.
Although Maria’s thinking is rooted in psychodynamic theory, her approach is grounded, warm, and deeply relational. She believes that many of us learn to hide or reject aspects of ourselves—parts we fear are unacceptable or have been told not to show. Keeping these parts out of awareness can be exhausting, often contributing to feelings of depression, anxiety, stagnation, or a sense that something is missing.
Maria works by sitting alongside her clients with curiosity and compassion, welcoming all parts of their experience. In doing so, she supports people to access greater creativity, emotional freedom, and more authentic ways of relating and living. -
